Jan Hus

Post by Kveto from Prague » Mon July 6th, 2009, 8:48 pm

July 6th, 1415. Church reformer Jan Hus is burnt at the stake for critisizing the sale of indulgences by the church in Switzerland. This despite a papal promise of safe conduct for leaving his church in Prague to attend the council. His death is generally considered the starting point for the later Hussite wars and Bohemian crusades.
