October 26, 1406 - Wedding of Philippa, daughter of Henry IV, and Eric VII of Denmark at Lund, Sweden
Philippa was the second daughter and seventh and youngest child of Henry IV and his first wife Mary de Bohun. She married King Eric VII of Denmark at age 12. 23 years later, Philippa delivered a stillborn child and never fully recovered her health. She retired to a convent and died shortly thereafter.

October 26, 1580 – Death of Anna of Austria, fourth wife of Philip II Spain, at Badajoz, Spain; buried at the Monastery of San Lorenzo El Real in El Escorial

October 26, 1717 – Death of Catherine Sedley, mistress of James II, in Bath, England

October 26, 1802 – Birth of Miguel I of Portugal at the Queluz National Palace, Lisbon

October 26, 1944 - Death of Princess Beatrice, last surviving child of Queen Victoria, at Bantridge Park, Balcombe, Sussex, England; buried at St. Mildred's Church, Whippingham, Isle of Wight

Through her second marriage to Owen Tudor, Catherine is the grandmother of Henry VII.

October 27, 1505 - Death of Tsar Ivan III of Russia in Moscow; buried at the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel in Moscow

October 27, 1914 – Death of Prince Maurice of Battenberg, grandson of Queen Victoria, during World War I at Zonnebeke, Ypres, Belgium; buried at the at Ypres Town Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery, Ypres, Belgium
Maurice was the son of Princess Beatrice and Prince Henry of Battenberg. He was killed in action during World War I.

October 29, 1875 - Birth of Princess Marie of Edinburgh, granddaughter of Queen Victoria, at Eastwell Park, Kent, England
Full name: Marie Alexandra Victoria
Marie was the daughter of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and Grand Duchess Marie Alexandrovna of Russia, daughter of Tsar Alexander II. She married Crown Prince Ferdinand of Romania and later became Queen.

October 29, 1900 – Death of Prince Christian Victor of Schleswig-Holstein, grandson of Queen Victoria, at Pretoria, South Africa; buried in the Pretoria Cemetery, South Africa
Prince Christian was the son of Princess Helena, daughter of Queen Victoria, and Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein. He died of enteric fever at Pretoria, South Africa while serving with the British Army during the Boer War.

October 29, 1950 - Death of Gustav V at Drottningholm Palace; buried at Riddarholmen Church

October 29, 1998 - Birth of Prince Constantine Alexios of Greece, son of Crown Prince Pavlos, in New York City

October 29, 2004 - Death of Princess Alice, Dowager Duchess of Gloucester at Kensington Palace; buried at Frogmore, Windsor
Alice was the widow of George V's son Henry, Duke of Gloucester, aunt of Queen Elizabeth II and mother of Richard, the current Duke of Gloucester. She was 102 and was the longest lived member of the British Royal Family.

October 31, 1214 - Death of Eleanor, daughter of Henry II, at the Abbey of Las Huelgas, Burgos, Castile; buried at the Abbey of Las Huelgas
Born in 1162, Eleanor was the second daughter of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. In 1179, she married King Alfonso VIII of Castile. The marriage was a happy one and produced four sons and eight daughters. Alfonso died on October 6, 1214. Eleanor was grief-stricken and died 25 days later. They were both buried in the Abbey of Las Huelgas near Burgos, where their daughter Constance was the abbess.

October 31, 1345 – Birth of Fernando I of Portugal in Lisbon, Portugal

October 31, 1391 – Birth of King Duarte of Portugal in Viseu, Kingdom of Portugal

October 31, 1613 – Birth of Luisa de Guzmán, wife of João IV of Portugal, in Sanlúcar, Spain

She was canonized as a saint by the Russian Orthodox Church and is depicted above the Great West Door of Westminster Abbey with other Twentieth Century Martyrs.

November 2, 1475 - Birth of Anne of York, daughter of Edward IV, at the Palace of Westminster
Anne married Thomas Howard, later the 3rd Duke of Norfolk, but she died young and they had no children. The Duke later married Anne Stafford, daughter of the Duke of Buckingham and was the uncle of Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard.

Anne married the Prince William IV of Orange. The Dutch Royal Family is descended from her.

November 2, 1755 - Birth of Maria Antonia of Habsburg-Lotharingen, wife of Louis XVI of France; at Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria
Full name: Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna (better known by her French name, Marie Antoinette)

November 2, 1767 - Birth of Edward, Duke of Kent, son of George III, at Buckingham Palace
The Duke of Kent was the father of Queen Victoria.

November 2, 1777 - Birth of Princess Sophia, daughter of George III, at Buckingham Palace
Sophia was the fifth daughter and twelfth child of George III and Charlotte of Mecklenberg-Strelitz. She had an illegitimate son by Captain Thomas Garth. Sophia never married but lived with her mother as a companion. She died at Vicarage House, Kensington and was buried at her request at Kensal Green Cemetery opposite her brother the Duke of Sussex.

November 2, 1916 – Death of Elisabeth of Wied, wife Carol I of Romania, at Bucharest, Romania; buried at the Cathedral of the Curtea de Arges Monastery

November 2, 1938 - Birth of Sofia of Greece, wife of King Juan Carlos I of Spain, in Psychiko, Athens, Greece
Sofia is a descendant of Queen Victoria via both her father and mother.
