- Preferred HF: I like a series the best - more to look forward to after one book ends. Masters of Rome, The Century Trilogy, & the Outlander series are some of my favorites.

HFO Book of the Year?
Has this board, or the old one, ever done a poll for book of the year? I have gotten so much, and so many book purchases, out of everyone's top 10 lists, it would be fun to see what everyone here thinks is the best historical fiction book published this year. What do you all think?

That would be great! I'm planning to do a "my favorite historical novels this year" feature for http://www.HistoricalNovels.info later this month, but there are only so many novels one person can read in a year - it would be great to do some sort of compilation here of HFO members' favorite 2008 reading.
Browse over 5000 historical novel listings (probably well over 5000 by now, but I haven't re-counted lately) and over 700 reviews at www.HistoricalNovels.info

It would be great to have someone make available a list of HF novels published in 2008....I have never kept up with newly published books....usually a couple of years behind......my latest read is "The Lace Reader" not really HF....I thought it was new...but found out it was published in 2006.......BTW very interesting read......

Is anyone willing to take this on?
I don't have time to do it at the moment, and I don't think Boswell does, but if people want to do it, then that's fine.
Would need definition of just books published this year, or books read this year, and would people only be able to submit 1 title or up to 5 or whatever.
