My wife and I watched two wonderful films on dvd over the last few days... the King of California with Michael Douglas and Evan Rachel Wood, and Ghost world with Thora Birch,Scarlet Johansson and Steve Buscemi. Both different but very moving films ( especially Ghost World).I've seen them a few times before but they linger in the mind long after being viewed and have a haunting quality about them

"The Social Network", had to see what all the fuss was about, glad it didn't win the Best Movie, but it wasn't bad but not Oscar worthy.

"The Secret of Kells" a gorgeous animated movie about a Norseman attack on the Irish abbey that produced the Book of Kells...much more pagan than Christian symbolism in the "illuminations."

Trying to get through The Horse Boy and ironically keep getting interrupted by the autistic children. They did have interesting reactions to watching the boy tantrum though.

I thought it was pretty interesting. Better than I expected.

Just watched Patch Adams (kinda sad at the end, but a very good movie). Also, Waiting for Superman. Like many documentaries it was a bit of a yawn, but it did raise some critical points, like teacher tenure. Have to say I agree that it's given out much too easily (and I have an education degree).

ETA - My son and I saw Limitless at the theater last week. I recommend it. Lots of unexpected twists, very imaginative plot.

Saw the new Jane Eyre Friday night. Not impressed. While both the principal actors gave good performances, they had no chemistry. I wanted smoldering fire and got tepid waterworks. The most passionate character was St. John Rivers. Thornwood was appropriately dark, but there seemed no mystery; even the music was muted. I did love the costumes...hope the designer gets an Oscar nod.

Watched The Lovely Bones. I don't know why I waited so long to see it. I loved it!
