Anyone know why Harold is so expensive in the US? This book is mentioned a lot at Goodreads and there's quite a few who want to read it but the current price ($30!!) is holding most back. It (the high price) has been mentioned on Helen's Facebook wall as well. Any ideas?

I seem to think that Harold will be coming to Sourcebooks in the future. Unless i'm in the midst of false memory syndrome (which is a possibility) I'm sure Helen mentioned it at the Sourcebooks meeting we had with Dominique Raccah in September.

Edited to say that at the moment HTK is either self-published by Helen herself or small press published (can't remember the exact setup) as it went out of print in the UK and Random House didn't renew Helen's contract. So if she wanted to see it still in print, she had to do it herself. Hence the high price.

Thanks EC. Hopefully she can get a new contract soon. Sourcebooks - hint hint hint hint. It really needs to be more readily available, so many are missing out on such a great book. I recall trying for an ILL first in 2007 and they wrote back that they'd have to go out of the country to get a copy. Glad I bought it when I did.

Should we coordinate a write in campaign to someone?

Misfit, I think she is already contracted to Sourcebooks for Harold some time next year, so it's a done deal.

Yay! Can you poke her to make an official announcement so we can get the word out?

Helen has just replied to me on Twitter. A Hollow Crown will be the first title though - which makes sense chronologically. She said:

Yes! A Hollow Crown to be published Fall 2010 Harold the King early 2011 (Sourcebooks edition my brackets)

HTK will stay with DA in US via Amazon.com until end 2010 though (I think that's the expensive one you've mentioned - my brackets again).

Thanks for the heads up. I just purchased it. Now I have three Helen Hollick books awaiting me on my Kindle, but I think I might be hung up on the Outlander series for a while.
