Rant! No price matching on Amazon??

Post by LCW » Thu November 6th, 2008, 7:51 am

Yesterday I bought a pair of boots off Amazon for $130. Today I check my order and on the products main site I see that the price is down to $70. That's almost 50% off! So I called and they weren't going to refund the difference telling me that as of Sept. they don't price match for a lower advertised price....even if the item hasn't been shipped out yet. I was floored! It was literally like 12 hours between my purchase and discovering the price drop.

After some persistence on my part and speaking to a supervisor I got them to refund the difference finally. I'm just surprised that they have such a ridiculous policy! I mean, if I wanted to, I could just refuse the package and send it back then repurchase the shoes at the lower price. I'm glad I got the discount but I shouldn't have had to jump through hoops for it. I've never heard of that before and I do a lot of online shopping!! Not good customer service, if you ask me!!

I'm not surprised. Tough times are making a lot of people change their policies on things. But I agree with you that is BS.

I would have fought too. So good for you. If they would have told me no. I would have returned them and then bought them at the cheaper price. Yes company's are having a hard go of things ...but hello so are we!

You go girl. Good to know about that and it is dumb on their part as Divia said you could have just returned them and bought again. Funny, they have this big hoopla on getting the lowest price when you pre-order books. Can you believe that when Devil's Brood came out I got an email from them saying I'd ended up getting it for $.02 less than the original order?

Yah, I'm sure I'll find a bank to keep that for me and pay interest. Not!

Nice boots, though the heel would make it awkward for me to wear something like that, I don't wear heels, haven't since 2001.

If Amazon had done that to me and I didn't get the refund, I might have gotten Jesse, King5's consumer advocate, he's amazing! "GET JESSE!"

Thanks! I love heels as long as they are comfortable. Two inches and under I can do no problem provided it's a comfortable well made shoe. I used to wear heels everyday so that flats then made my feet uncomfortable. Then I went to grad school and did some very unglamourous lab and field work for so long that I got out of the habit of wearing heels. For the last few years I've been trying to work my way up to the sky high heels again. I think I'm ruined for good though! So far nothing over a 3 inch heel is wearable for more than an hour or so!

I find that shopping online is so much easier to find exactly what you want. It's a hassle to return if you have to but weigh that against the hassle of going from store to store and not finding what you want. I do love shopping in the stores though, don't get me wrong. It's relaxing to me! But I usually just browse and impulse shop. If want or need something specific I go online!
