[quote=""SonjaMarie""]Speaking of Barney, they showed him on the news last night biting the hand of a reporter who tried to pet him.

I saw that! All I could think was that the reporter had it coming. He reached down and over the poor dog. In doggie language that is very rude and Barney let him know it! It always amazes me how people just think every dog should be subjected to pets and pats by any and everyone regardless of the poor dog's feelings. Sometimes they're just not in the mood to be hassled and it doesn't mean their bad vicious dogs. We expect our dogs to be polite to people so people, esp. strangers, should be polite to dogs as well!

I recommend a goldendoodle -

We have one. His name is Dude. Of the three dogs we've had, he is by far the smartest - a breeze to train. He doesn't shed, he is hypoallergenic (his coat is very soft) - most important, he is super friendly and very loving.

And Dude is biracial! His dad was a solid black standard poodle, and his mom was a pretty golden retriever.

Is he so cute?

A real writer prefers cats.

I can imagine Obama sitting in the Oval Office stroking a feline and saying to the man standing and facing hiim across the desk, "And so, Mr. Putin .... ;)

And there's further confirmation that I will never be a writer.

The only reason I don't have a cat as well as Jasper, is because mom's allergic.

Hey! I kinda think I'm maybe a real writer! :p

Actually I like both cats and dogs, and would probably have one of each, except my husband and my boys are allergic to cats.

I like 'em both. I miss having a dog very much, and I really bonded with my Gwenny, a Blenheim variety of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They are terrific to have around children, and I have never ever known one to bite anyone. They love their people, and to them, their mission in life is to make others happy. Gwenny would spend hours curled up on my feet whether I was writing or reading. And she was a godsend when I was going through cancer treatment.

Latest episode in the presidential pup saga- Peru has offered a Peruvian Hairless Dog, an ancient breed witha rather unusaul appearance - love the Dumbo ears!
