What Sort of Puppy Should President Obama Get?

Post by boswellbaxter » Wed November 5th, 2008, 5:34 am

President-Elect Obama promised his daughters a puppy in his acceptance speech. So what type of puppy should they get? Purebreed? Or should they go to the local animal shelter?

What I want to know is...will they use the White House shaped dog house that Ellen DeGeneres gave them.

Definitely a mongrel - black white and tan so he's got a bit of everything!

Volgadon, wouldn't a parrot be a security threat unless it was mute? :D

Definitely they should go to a rescue shelter - those dogs deserve hope as well for a better life!

Interest in HF: I love history, but it's boring in school. Historical fiction brings it alive for me.

I go with a shelter puppy too. After all, it'll have a nice big house to romp around in, so they don't need to worry about it growing bigger than they expected!

I second the blk/wht/tan! In fact, I'll send my b/w/t tricolor Lucy to them so she can be a howler monkey in the White House. She has separation anxiety issues and just howls away when I leave her in a room alone. The White House is so much larger than my little house and I'm sure they'd love the echo of Lucy's voice in the vastness of the President's mansion. ;)

Interesting trivia for me - Michelle Obama's grandfather was born in Georgetown SC, which is where I lived during high school and she has cousins there still. I'm down in the area often to see my family about 15 miles away in Pawleys Island. So that makes Michelle kind of a local. Maybe I can pass off Lucy to the kids if they visit at holidays! :D
