What are you reading? June 2020

Hope everyone is well? It’s been very quiet on this message board. I’m finding reading is helping me get through this difficult and weird time.

I’m reading The Elizabeth Tudor Conspiracy by Alexandra Walsh, the second in the Marquess House conspiracy thriller series. It’s a time shift story.

I’m also reading via the Pigeonhole app Daughters of Cornwall by Fern Britton, a story set just after WW1. It’s a family drama.

It definitely has been quiet here! I hope everyone has been doing well.

Binge (re) reading the complete Emma: A Victorian Romance by Kaoru Mori, English trans. by Sheldon Drzka.
I've checked out and read this historical fiction manga series a few times from the library.

I've been working from home all the time and am hating every second, mainly due to a constant barrage of IT problems. Anyway reading has provided some escapism (along with the latest series of Outlander!) although as I'm no longer commuting my reading has seriously tailed off.

I've just started "The Impostor" by L J Ross, the first in a new series involving a psychological profiler, who helps the police.

Hi, I am rereading Watchmen and in the current political and social scenario, i can see many gaps in the book but also many deep resonances in the form of dissatisfactions and uprisings. I am also learning up my arithmetic and geometric sequences in as non-boring fashion as possible with applicable examples and all for my high school tuition students as the number of hours have gone up but not the pay. I am also looking at immersing in some poetry about the nature- do suggest :)

Started The Queen's Fortune by Allison Pataki
Novel about Desiree Clary, Napoleon's first love and later Queen of Sweden

I read and own Désirée by Annemarie Selinko, reissued in 2010. The novel originally was published in 1953 and was the basis of the 1954 movie.

I’m reading A Children’s Bible by Lydia Millet, an apocalyptic style story. It’s a bit different!

I’m also reading The Last Wife by Karen Hamilton bia Pigeonhole. It’s a contemporary psychological thriller. Just two staves in so far and enjoying it.

I’m now reading The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker, a bit of Greek mythology, about Achilles and Briseis. It’s my f2f book group read. I’m enjoying it so far.
