Little Women: 2018 US Broadcast

Postby princess garnet » Fri May 5th, 2017, 2:09 am

I read that Lousia Alcott's novel Little Women will be adapted and broadcasted for PBS's "Masterpiece" in 2018. The novel has been adapted as a movie in 1933, 1949, and 1994.

Yay! So looking forward to this.
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

The new TV adaptation of Little Women has started its US broadcast. (The 1st episode aired at a special time) This Sunday evening (5/20) will be a special double header conclusion.

Enjoy this look from the on-set featuring photos and commentary from "Masterpiece" executive producer Rebecca Eaton during her June 2017 visit: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/specialfeatures/on-set-little-women/

I thought Emily Watson was very good in this. It seemed to me that they jammed in some material from Alcott's later novels, unless I have misremembered these, which I suppose is possible.
I'm curious how other readers remember these novels if you read them as children and what you thought of them at the time - I enjoyed Little Women, but found Little Men and Jo's Boys disappointing.
Browse over 5000 historical novel listings (probably well over 5000 by now, but I haven't re-counted lately) and over 700 reviews at www.HistoricalNovels.info
