Hello everyone!

Post by RegalGal » Mon November 18th, 2013, 6:01 pm

Hello everyone! I'm "Regal Gal". I'm from the US. I like reading everything British! But I love learning about History in particular British history. My favorite eras to read about are the: Medieval and Renaissance. But I especially enjoy the Tudor era and am currently reading a biography about Elizabeth I. Just some of my favorite historical authors are Alison Weir, Julia Fox, Jon Guy, Karen Harper and Jean Plaidy. I just noticed that many of you on here are writers of history and I look forward to reading everyone's books as well! I do love to write but I don't write about history; I like to write poetry sometimes and writing about romance and fantasy fiction...the latter genre is what I'm currently composing now and hope to get published someday. I look forward to chatting with all of you in the forum!

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.
Location: California Bay Area

Hi Regalgal, and welcome to the forum! Renaissance is my era, too.
So long as you're on Elizabeth I may I recommend the best HF on her I know? It's Legacy, by Susan Kay. One of my top ten, and at my advanced age, a book has to rise through a pretty crowded list to get to that place.

Hi, RegalGal! Welcome to the forum and good luck with your writing. Several of us share your interest in both HF and SF/F. I guess the urge to escape the now goes off in all directions.

A bit late to the party, but welcome RegalGal! I hope you enjoy it here. I like books about the Renaissance, Medieval and Tudor eras, too. I also find civil wars fascinating - any country.
