Good Morning everyone,

My name is Deputy Dougal and I've been rescued by my new Mom and Dad and Sheriff Padfoot-I hear he is quite popular around these parts. I thought I would just say Howdy from the Homestead and show you a few pics which Mom has graciously decided to post.

He looks like he's settled in well. We had a beagle when I was a kid, and she used to sit on top of the cushions like he is in the 2nd photo - sometimes the cushion would give way and she'd fall down in between the two and have to be rescued, be warned!

He's lovely.

Haha, well the one picture I didn't post was the one of his Daddy holding him up as he tried to look out the window. So far, we haven't had a cushion issue as much as we've had a Dougal jumping from the very tip top of the couch to the floor issue. I am not a fan.

They seem to tolerate each other. So far, no playing of any sort has taken place although Padfoot keeps trying. Poor Dougal just never had any experience with other dogs or even being a puppy so I don't think he "gets it." I'm trying to be patient but would really like to know if he will just never play or it will just take time. Poor Padfoot gets so upset when he tries to play that he ends up running over to me with his tail tucked. Dougal doesn't growl or anything, he also just tucks his tail and runs away. Its really pathetic to watch.

Awwww, poor guy. When you say rescue, was he in a shelter or somewhere else not so happy? I've been following the shelter I got Starla from on Facebook. It's very sad how so many are just left behind to wander the streets when peeps get tired of them

But then the adoptions stories are so wonderful to hear.

He's probably not used to socializing with other dogs. Are there any classes you can take him to to help him get used to other dogs?

He was rescued by MD Westie Rescue and we picked him up from his foster family.

We took him to the dog park yesterday and he did pretty well meaning he didnt bite anyone. Just sniffed and moved on. We are hoping it just takes some time

Hats off to all those volunteers and the time they give to the pet shelters. I could never do it, would want to take each and everyone of them home.

Misfit, YES - including those who keep their eyes on Craigslist and help owners find lost pups. Blessed people.

Dougal is a cutie, and Brenna I love your pets' names. Here's hoping Padfoot gets his bond with a new pal - however they end up expressing it. It's so lovely to have a pack.

Gossa-monster is the cushion-topper in our house. If Pen were allowed to get on the couch, and tried it, she'd just mush it and slide off.
