What forum features do you use?

Post by Holly Tucker » Sun October 12th, 2008, 2:07 pm

Hi all. Really enjoying the board--the post on 17th century favorites has been simply amazing.

I notice that many of you have "friends" through the boards, or seem to be using some of the other features available here. I can't seem to get a handle on this stuff. Any tips you can share?

All the best, Holly

Holly, I don't get the whole "friends" thing either. I respond postively if someone requests to "friend" me, but I don't really know what it's for!

I don't think the "Friends" feature is as important on this type of site as it is, say, on some of the social networking sites--in fact, I didn't know it was a function here until I started getting invitations. Think of it as just a fun feature that's there to use if you like. If you want to invite someone to be your friend, get into their profile by clicking their name and click under "Friends." That should give you a chance to click "Befriend."

There really aren't many bells and whistles on this board--just post, feel free to start threads, and enjoy!

If you have suggestions for forums you'd like to see, we're happy to hear them! Just post a message in the "Suggestions" forum under Historical Fiction Online, or PM me or Diamondlil.

By the way, Holly, if you want to add an avatar (you don't have to, but I thought that might be one of the features you were referring to), just go into your "User CP" and look under "Settings and Options." You should see something like "Edit Avatar" there.
