Sharon gave another interview to Kelly Hewitt and talked about her next book...it will continue to follow Eleanor, Richard, John and Joanna and cover Richards reign. Working title is Lionheart.

You can read the interview here.

Thank you for posting a link to the interview JM! As I said in the introduction and another post on this site - I was very very happy to find out that Penman would not be leaving the Plantagenet family. Especially since we know from history that Eleanor became perhaps even more integral and powerful after the death of Henry II and the reigns of Richard and John!

Thanks for the interview JM!
I've just been talking to Sharon this evening. Her health has let her down again so she won't be doing her book tour at the moment, but she is beginning to feel better and the hospital have managed to sort out her latest problem. (she hopes!)
She's been reading the Amazon reviews and says the book is selling well.

There's a European Royalty thread at goodreads and I posted the link to Kelly's blog there as well.

EC, do let her know how much we love her book here. Wonder if she could come by and visit the discussion site?

I will do and I bet she would. I don't talk to her all the time - just now and again and usually when she has enough energy or there's something going on that interests us both. I send her news but I don't expect replies to everything and Sharon will drop e-mail back as and when. Generally we exchange research snippets or stuff that is common to writers working in our genre. I've known her and she me for many years in this sort of sporadic way. I sent her congrats on publication day for DB and it was only yesterday she wrote back and said thanks and that she'd been rather poorly but had had two good days in a row, so felt up to e-mailing. Probably not a good idea to ask her right now as she's still in slow recovery mode, but a few weeks hence perhaps?

Hi, it is Sharon K Penman again. My computer has gone into a major meltdown and I have not been able to answer several of your questions. They keep getting bounced back with a cryptic warning that my message is too brief! Yeah, right, as if a woman who writes 800 page books is ever going to write anything that is too "brief."
I am going to have to give up, though, as it is too frustrating to type out replies that no one gets to see! I understand I can log on later and then answer the questions still unanswered. Or you can e-mail me directly, either through my website or [email protected]
Thank you so much for inviting me to join you. This was so much fun and I will definitely be hanging out in your neighborhood often from now on! Now I am going to go feed my dogs their lunch before they stage a rebellion of their own; they expect to have lunch served at noon and they are really irked that it is now almost 2:30 PM.
Thanks again,
Sharon
PS Kelly's Loaded Questions website is really a fun place to visit. Now I am going to hold my breath and see if the computer demons will let me send this out.
