Full storyEngineers finally switched off the high-pressure spray jets, which have covered the hull with millions of litres of water and wax chemicals since the dramatic salvage operation in 1982, which was watched and supported by Prince Charles.
The move marks the final phase of conservation of the 16th century ship which was submerged in The Solent for almost 500 years after she was sunk during a skirmish with French invading forces in 1545.

- Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.

I'm definitely going to see this once the museum opens. I have a WIP based on the Browne family my re-enactment guild plays, and at one point Sir Anthony Browne was second-in-command of the Mary Rose. (his brother was the admiral). And I didn't want to do another re-hash of all the six wives stuff, so I went with the naval angle. But I have to go walk the sites in person before I can finish it properly.
