I've bailed on Katherine Ashe's Montfort at 17%. I have the latest India Black out from the library, but I'm also perusing an old Karen Harper Zebra set in Charles II's court, Frances Stewart and the Duke of Richmond.

There's been a bit of a kerfuffle over at Facebook about the Montfort book. Kathryn Warner posted an Amazon.com review that wasn't taken to kindly by the author.

The Oracle Glass by Judith Riley. It's ok-the second half is way better than the first half but not very "gripping."

I knew about the *cough* alternative history going in (and I didn't make it that far), it was the writing and characterization of Simon-Sue that done me in.

This must be her first for a while- she wrote several in the late 1990s and early 20O0s which I read and enjoyed- more like classy historical romances though, I thought.

The Best of all Possible Worlds by Karen Lord, quite good so far. It has a LeGuin flavour all over it (Left Hand...?)

Favourite HF book: Here Be Dragons by Sharon Kay Penman
Preferred HF: Any time period/location. Timeslip, usually prefer female POV. Also love Gothic melodrama.

I've decided to give Barbara Erskine another chance, so I'm reading River of Destiny since from what I've heard I know it's going to be a good read.
