How interesting that they are running a special on Funder's book before it's released (comes out in March). I liked her NF book, Stasiland, so will give it a shot since it's free! I think her style of writing would translate well to fiction.

Edited to add: they moved the release date up. The ebook was released on 2/20.

Pru Batten's novel Gisbourne (sp) is free until the 28th I think both on Kindle UK and USA.
Les proz e les vassals
Souvent entre piez de chevals
Kar ja li coard n’I chasront

'The Brave and the valiant
Are always to be found between the hooves of horses
For never will cowards fall down there.'

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.
Location: California Bay Area
Freebies:
Maids of Misfortune: A Victorian San Francisco Mystery by M. Louisa Locke
Sultana: A Novel of Moorish Spain by Lisa J. Yarde
I got Maids of Misfortune last time it was free, tried a few pages and was hooked (although mystery is not my genre). Good book, well-researched and well-written.

I also got Sultana, (when it was not free) because it was set in Granada and dealt with historical characters that are the background for my own novel set in Granada. I tried to get through it several times. Even knowing so much about the time/place/culture it was confusing and over-told. Finally I deleted it. Life is too short. YMMV.

I had a similar experience with both!

A good deal for UK Kindle users.

Until Thursday (28th Feb), first-time subscribers to the Amazon Kindle Daily Deal newsletter get a code to download a free Kindle book from a selection of 16 titles. The selection includes The Agincourt Bride by Joanna Hickson. Considering that it's a recent release, I think that's a pretty good deal just to sign up to a newsletter you can unscubscribe to later anyway.

Link here.

ETA: Apparently if you're already subscribed you can just unsubscribe before signing up again, and it does work. Worth a try!
