Greetings from Wessex!
I have read historical fiction for years having been 'hooked' by the Jean Plaidy novels and read widely in the same genre today. My current reading is Elizabeth Chadwick's The Lady of the English.
Since purchasing the site of an old house in the 90s I wondered who had lived there before and was thrilled to discover a charter dated 946AD mentioning the site. From there the research has been fascinating and resulted in my first work of historical fiction, The King's Chalice, an e book published by Bretwalda Books about Saxon times in Wessex. I hope to create a series and in my dreams would emulate Cynthia Harrod Eagles whose books have inspired my efforts.
What an interesting site! Is anyone else researching or writing about England in Saxon and Norman times? As Philippa Gregory mentioned in her recent talk, authors of historical fiction flesh out the known facts, certainly true of periods of history when recorded details are rather scarce!
The King's Chalice is now in print, the first volume available from book sellers!

Welcome, Janet! I hope you enjoy it here.
I'm a big Cynthia Harrod Eagles fan and have been steadily working my way through the Morland Dynasty for quite a few years now.

Hello from California. Welcome to the forum. I'm interested in reading about Saxon England, if that helps.
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!
