The CW Developing Teenage Drama About Mary Queen Of Scots

Post by sweetpotatoboy » Thu October 25th, 2012, 1:48 pm

Big-swing dramas are those that have worked lately — from AMC’s The Walking Dead and HBO’s Game Of Thrones to ABC’s Once Upon A Time and NBC’s Revolution. The CW is taking a step in that direction with Reign, from writers/executive producers Laurie McCarthy (CSI: Miami) and Stephanie SenGupta (Outlaw). The project, which was sold directly to the CW and laid off at CBS TV Studios, is a fantastical reimagining of the teenage Mary Queen of Scots.

Oh my achin' head.

And here I was *facepalm*-ing about 2004's Luke Goss "Frankenstein", sneering to myself about a scene in which a butler kisses a lady's hand in greeting. I probably wouldn't survive ten minutes of "Reign"!
"To be the queen, she agreed to be the widow!"

Is it set in an alternate universe where she becomes queen of England?? To make up for her not existing in The Tudors.
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

This is what I envision:

A twist on the dresses she would have worn. A slightly more modern garb, perhaps even loose pants?

An outspoken, sexually progressive woman with a posse of gossipy backstabbing girls, oh and one loyal one.

Backstabbing throughout court

And a young woman who becomes the next joan of arc.

Ah yes, I think I shall pass.

I bet they make young Francois a dashing teen heartthrob instead of the underdeveloped invalid he really was.

Uh, I liked the costumes. Who was that guy who kept having visions?

Nostradamus apparently.

I know I will have to suspend belief, but I just know I will have to watch it.

That would be Nostradamus (albeit a younger, hotter version of him than I would have envisaged). That, at least, would be historically accurate - that Catherine de Medici was a big admirer of his and had him at court.
