James I and Charles I

I need some HF ideas for James I of England and Charles I time periods. I really don't know anything that led to the Civil War or what happened in England after Elizabeth died and Charles II returned. Help!

You want court focused, or those set in the countryside?

I really recommend Pamela Belle's two series, Wintercombe and the Heron books. This Listopia at Goodreads might give you some ideas as well.

There's also the classic Forever Amber, plus D du M's The King's General.

Thanks Misfit. Unfortunately Pamella Belle is not in our library system. I will check to see if I can do an ILL when I pick up the non-fiction books I reserved.
