Hello and welcome! I haven't taken the plunge yet to a separate Kindle, but I do have the Kindle-for-PC app and read books there. I love to read in bed at night, and I think an e-reader would be so much easier to handle than a paper book, so I suppose I need to de-Luddite myself and get one.

thank you all for your words of welcome.
Elizabeth, like you I had the kindle app on my iPad but when I went on holiday I found it almost impossible to read while sitting in the sun. the kindle on the other hand poses no such problem. Although you do need a light if you want to read it in bed in low or no light. Not a problem for the iPad. I guess you just have to weigh up how you would use it. I just love the fact that it is so portable and the battery life is excellent.
