Anyone else watch 'Meet the Romans', with Mary Beard last night?
Some real nuggets of detail in there as she showed us the broken-pot mountain, a huge mound in Rome made entirely of discarded oil amphorae from the time of the empire. Then there were the advertising mosaics dotted all over the ground at the port town of Ostia - the equivalent to modern day billboards.
Anyway, A definite must-watch (I've got it set up to record the series on my digibox)!
