I have read all of Anchee Min's books and they are ALL amazing! Some of them deal with her own life in China, the later books, one of which CW mentioned, delve into the life of the last emperor and empresses of China. Her last book is a sequel to Empress Orchid and is the second half of her life, The Last Empress.

She is one of those authors I really want to interview but fear I'll never find. I have written several times at Loaded Questions that if anyone can find her for me I'd be the happiest person in the world.

Oh! One more thing! I have an interview with Lisa See that is being released at Loaded Questions on 10/23.

I have had an intense interest in Chinese historical fiction since I visited Beijing a few years ago.

I tore through all of Anchee Min's books, ready Lisa See's (I heartily agree that the second book is better, more mature) and even read all three of the Good Earth books by Pearl Buck.

I love reading about Imperial China but have found that the Cultural Revolution as a historical setting is also very good.

Does anyone else have any recommendations?

Sorry for the mini-rant.

Kelly
