Thank you for the welcome. I certainly enjoyed Dissolution and am now reading Dark Fire but I am currently doing postgraduate research part-time as a very mature student and, as my topic lies within the 18th century, any tips on historical fiction covering the 18th century would be gratefully received.

Welcome, Chris! I took the liberty of moving your post in the thought that you'd probably get more of a response here than in the other thread.

For 18th century Daniel Defoe is great. I know some of his novels are written about previous periods but they really reflect his own 18th century era. Also try The Storm as an example of his journalistic skills. I am also particularly partial to Fielding and still have a soft spot for Tom Jones.

Hi Chris. Any particular subject/country you are looking for? That might help narrow down the suggestions. We might overwhelm you otherwise.
