Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden gave birth to a daughter

Post by Susan » Fri February 24th, 2012, 1:41 am

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden gave birth to a daughter on February 23, 2012. The baby was born at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm at 4:26 AM and weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and was 20 inches long (3,280 grams and 51 cm). Prince Daniel, the baby's father, was present at the delivery and cut the umbilical cord. The new parents left the hospital later that day with their newborn daughter. The new princess is second in line to the throne after her mother and will remain second in line even if she has brothers.

So does this mean that with the change of the rules in Sweden, after her mother she will remain heir to the throne even with brothers?

Congrats to them!

Yes, Sonja. She will remain heir to the throne ahead of any children born after her regardless of their gender.

Nice to hear about good things in the world. The king is supposed to announce the little one's name soon.

Cool, I like that rule! The Netherlands had 3 Queen's in a row, but that will will end with Beatrix, so now Sweden can take over with 2 in a row, assuming all goes well.
