Flower Rescued from Permafrost

Post by bevgray » Tue February 21st, 2012, 6:43 pm

Just finished ordering the roses that I'll plant in the new section of my garden. I saw this and wondered what it would be like to encounter a species of flower that hasn't bloomed in millenia.

Very interesting. The Jurrasic Park link is unsettling, though.

Very interesting...then the Russian scientist gets one-upped by the discoverers of a 300 million year-old forest!

Faith, those trees are probably lying about their age. I bet they're really 400 million years old. :D

That permafrost flower might actually survive a winter in Wisconsin. Most of the roses I like best won't grow here. :(

After living in an apartment for 30 years, I finally built a house two years ago. Last spring, I discovered gardening and have gone completely nuts over the roses. We don't get the winters here in Indianapolis that you do up north, LoveHistory, and we've had a mild one this year so my fingers are crossed that most of the pretties survived.
