I knew they divorced but couldn't remember how long ago. 2007 actually seems like fairly recent history given how my years blur together. They were living near my colleague before that (around 2003-2005 timeframe IIRC). It wasn't all that long ago that Whitney was in the news here for some kind of infraction. I don't remember what.

I read that it was 1) drowning and 2) artherosclerosis which was caused by cocaine use. No indication as yet whether there was cocaine in her system at the time of death.

This is only a preliminary report so we won't know for sure until the full one is released in a few weeks.

Has anyone watched the Oprah interview with the daughter? I haven't, but I can't imagine how hard it must be for her, since her mom was also kind of like a friend in addition to a mother.

Grief is a long process and I really dislike what I term 'TV confessionals.' Whitney's daughter will be emotionally fragile, she may feel as if she must talk to Oprah to defend her mother's choices.

It is so sad to see young women driven to dose themselves with whatever is available to try and keep their inner demons at bay. I remember once seeing Anna Nicole Smith in an interview and thought if she takes one more pill, she'll be dead...Two days later, she was dead.

If Whitney's daughter wants to talk about her mother a year from now, well and good, but my opinion is-Leave the poor girl alone to grieve.

Thanks LoveHistory...I remember seeing Michael Jackson's children as they were paraded on stages and their grief was obvious. I will stick by my comments, let the children grieve and if they wish to talk a year from now, well and good.
