RIP Whitney Houston
Dang, she was 48, no cause of death announced yet. She was such a great singer until she got involved with Bobby Brown and drugs, then she became a bit of a joke. I feel so bad for her young daughter!

Tomorrow are the Grammies, I suspect there will be many tributes and sadness.

That's so sad and tragic. Too young.

Since Whitney Houston was a native of New Jersey, there was a huge front page story on her in the Star Ledger, which is the largest NJ newspaper.
I read online that Jennifer Hudson and Chaka Khan will do a tribute to Houston at tonight's Grammy Awards.

Agreed. She was fine until she hooked up with Bobby Brown. Its sad that she decided to do drugs and become what she did.
I'm not shocked.

I was never a fan, either, though I recognized her talent as well. I just don't like that style of singing -- very divaish and so imitated today!
I almost think it contributes to the problem when celebrities like these are given so much attention and sympathy by fans and the press. Whitney and her husband were never without their entourage (unless they've changed habits in recent years). A lady I used to work with lived down the street from them, and she had nothing good to say about their lifestyle or how they were raising their daughter. Their entourage became a frequent nuisance in the neighborhood. Despite earning more than many of us would dream of, the couple was always struggling for money. I feel sorry for the daughter, but given how she grew up with very poor role models, would be very surprised if she doesn't have a substance abuse problem or eventually develop one. Sad any which way you look at it.
