Father, two young sons, killed in explosion

They're reporting this afternoon that either one or both of the boys have been saying for some time that mommy is in the "mine". There's a lot of mines out there...
At home with a good book and the cat...

It's just terrible :( ...The authorities should have intervened once the boys started to remember what had happened to their mother and given the children to their MATERNAL grandparents. I am with Misfit and have NO time for the father, he is evil, it's that simple!

I know. Child custody laws are so tricky. The boys most likely would not have been removed from their father's custody except for the fact that his father was charged with voyerism/pornography last summer and Powell was living in his father's home at the time. According to the news reports I've read, the authorities couldn't have mandated visitation at a separate location, as Powell would have had to been charged with a crime and a serious crime at that.

Gah, I'm just so sad at all this.

The grandparents were interviewed on NBC's "Today" show this morning. Horrible!
