Oh, you're reading the Angelique books! After much hunting, I was able to track down a reasonably priced copy of the first book, which I read and thoroughly enjoyed last year.
Did you like the Rosalind Laker book? I have "To Dance with Kings" on my shelf. It's got a terrible 80s cover (with floating heads :rolleyes
but I've never read anything by her.

Dance with Kings is my favorite of Laker's books. House on the Fjord was more on the tedious/who wrote this? side of things.
I'd been slowly aquiring the Angelique books via swap and kind friends, and then my friend Michele and I were at a UBS and hit the motherlode. Multiple copies of almost all of them for $3-5 each. I know have some duplicates that I'll pass on to other friends once I get them all read and decide which to keep.

Is it as good as The Second Duchess...I found that book almost unputdownable. I'll look forward to buying that one.
