Wow! Philippa Gregory! I wish I could afford to go, but I am already committed to two big trips this year: Ticehurst England for Royalty Weekend (for authers who write about royal families), then in Decemeber I am going on a "not the end of the world" cruise which includes several presentations directed at the science fiction/fantasy writing community aand also includes a visit to the Mayan temple on Dec 21st (the day their long-count calendar ends).
I understand the Historical Fiction Society had an American branch which will have their biennial conference in 2013. I am planning on going to that one.

Shame you can't make it this time, Daniel.
By the way, it's not really a separate branch. Same society, same global annual conference. Just that the event alternates each year between North America and the UK. I hope to make it to Florida for next year's conference too but all in good time!

Susan: there is no registration deadline. But, of course, there's always the chance that we'll be full up if you leave it too late but hopefully it wouldn't come to that.

I am delighted to announce that the full programme for the HNS conference in London in September is now up on the website:
http://www.hns-conference.org.uk/programme/
The cast list had been up for a while, but now full details of each session are available so this is very exciting. If you were hesitating about attending, please take a look and I'm sure you'll be enticed to book straightaway!
The main programme page gives you the timetable for each day, but for some of the sessions you have to click through to get more details.
For example, there are three main panel sessions on the Saturday and one on the Sunday, so if you click through from any of those on the main programme it will take you to details of all four of them.
Similarly, there is one session on the Saturday in which you have the choice of ten different workshops or talks, plus another such session with ten different choices on the Sunday. If you click though from the main programme, you'll get details of those.
If you've booked already, a questionnaire will be sent to you shortly asking you several questions, such as dietary requirements and which of the optional sessions you'd like to attend. There are also pitch sessions for writers, so you'll be asked about this.
For those who've not booked yet, the plan is for you to be sent the questionnaire when you book.
Any questions about the conference, feel free to ask me directly (if I can help I will or I will forward to the relevant person) or you can ask questions via the website.
