Archaeologists find tomb of female singer in Valley of Kings

Post by annis » Mon January 16th, 2012, 8:21 pm

A new tomb has been uncovered in the Valley of Kings, unusual in that it appears to have been used for the burial of a female singer rather than a member of royalty. Who was this favoured singer? There's a story there, I'm sure :)

Potentially interesting find, but how do they know she was a singer?

There was an inscription on the tomb identifying her. According to a BBC article "The woman, Nehmes Bastet, was a temple singer during Egypt's 22nd Dynasty (approximately 945 - 712BC), according to an inscription in the tomb."
