The ugly secret behind "reality" shows is that they are highly choreographed (not talking about the dance shows here!) The producers shoot hours of film and carefully choose the shots that tell the story they want to tell in that episode. The networks love these shows because they are so cheap to produce...no writers or actors to pay...give the participants a prize and fifteen minutes of fame.
All true, and means that they can fill hour after hour of airtime with this cheap dross instead of a decent drama....

I didn't see Emilia Fox's Who do you think....but JKR's was a good one.
Fljustice--I understand what you mean, but surely these people who participate know that? I just don't understand why people want the worst side of themselves to be shown on TV? Where is their sense of worth?

I'm not sure they do understand. Hubby has worked on several ancillary shows (what happened to those who were kicked off the island or the runway.) One young woman who was on a famous model's show was furious that the producers spun her story to make it seem she had abandoned her children to "follow her dream" when her original interview made it clear she joined the show in the hopes she could better support her kids. Clever editing made a caring mom into a selfish bitch.

That's why I would never go on a reality show, because the editors and producers twist things around so much. That, and I'm too shy for TV, anyway. :o

I wouldn't do it either and perhaps those who do need to understand there is a difference between fame and infamy.....It's like that TV show which caused an uproar on the internet where Sarah Murdoch named the wrong model as the winner....Er she is a Murdoch and it was a publicity stunt  ...I can't bear to watch those awful trashy shows....Also that TV show Big Brother I never watched a single episode. I mean who wants to watch a group of people behave like overwrought chooks :p beggars belief!

As for WDYTYA I think the first show is one of the stars from Gavin and Stacy. It starts here in a few weeks :D can't wait :D .
