Reputable publisher looking for authors on Amazon

Pen & Sword, a very good publisher previously only of military non-fiction, is branching out into fiction...by advertising on Amazon!

Sorry, but I couldn't help laughing my arse off. I recognized more than one regular spammer at the HF threads at Amazon US ;) :p

Um... Not the best way to look for good writers. I would think a press release and an annoucement on their website would have been a better option. As well as using any social media accounts they might have to spread the word.

He also posted a thread on this very forum around the same time asking the same question - it's in General Discussions.

Sweetpotatoboy, I was going to say - they also posted at Absolute Write's historical fiction forum. Those two posts came close to each other in time, within a day or two, but went up months ago. I've been contemplating submitting just because - why not? - and my work would be ideally suited to their "areas of expertise" as it were. The posts, however, coincided with my bite from Dream Agent, so I have suspended all my querying to work on revisions. Once those are done, Dreamy gets my first letter back in action, but I'll return to the list and might hit up Pen & Sword. Apart from the unorthodox method of publicizing, nothing I've ever known about P&S themselves has indicated they're fly-by-night or shady or anything.

As a non-fiction publisher, they're definitely legit. Just ordered a couple of books from them. It does seem a bit strange to put out the word on Amazon. Poor Jonboy's email must be digitally overflowing!

I can only imagine! Especially given that the Amazon forum is a veritable hotbed of self-promotion.
I think he's on safer ground in asking for suggestions for reviving out-of-print books.

Actually, I'd bet most of those on Ammy didn't bother to email him and just figured he'd be checking the thread every spare minute just dying to sign them.
