Not sure if this doesn't belong in the Chat section but I think I have finally identified the genre/subgenre of my historical fiction trilogy. They are under the category of Medieval Soap Opera.
I have no illusions that they are serious HF (though I've improved since the first one), but they are entertaining.

I love it! When trying to describe my passion for history, I usually tell people "history is Soap Opera!" History (and HF) isn't about boring dates and endless battles, it's the story of people living their lives, dealing with the crises life throws at them: relationships, religion, war, natural disasters, self-doubt and evil twins (
). Soap Operas may be a guilty pleasure, but there's a reason they're so addictive.

Kings is my personal favorite soap - and, though it's not set to appear historical, since it's biblical I think it qualifies.

"To be the queen, she agreed to be the widow!"
