Ludicrous book covers

Post by EC2 » Sat October 29th, 2011, 9:32 am

I've put this in the Chat section because the classic novels involved are mostly written contemporary with the author. What on earth were the designers thinking - other than having female nudity in the brain! http://causticcovercritic.blogspot.com/ ... vexed.html

Totally bizarre! The covers don't really seem to have any connection the what the books are about!

Ummmm. I googled the publisher just to see if it wasn't some silly hoax and found this list at Amazon. Ewwwwww.

Perhaps they're trying to attract a different type of reader - who would, of course, be pretty disappointed, although I did notice that the Amazon books are all Kindle editions. I do wonder what that cherub on the cover of Persuasion is up to though!

LOL. There are some interesting forgotten auhtors on that Amazon list. Dare I even ask what "Man-Size" by William MacLeod Raine is about?

Having looked further though, most of the titles seem to have been taken down, so I wonder if it IS a clever hoax. The Mary Shelly book seems legit though, so I dunno.

I hope it was a hoax, because some of those covers were absolutely hilarious...as Ludmilla pointed out Man-Size.

Ridiculous, and hilarious... as book covers. Those should stay paintings.

We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

How utterly bizarre! I thought this was a wind-up, but there are these books listed on Amazon with covers as shown. What on earth , for example, has Lady Godiva got to do with Jane Austen's Regency world? Good grief.

I could see Caroline Bingley going to those lengths to get Mr. Darcy's attention. :D
