NaNo 2011
Anyone doing NaNo (National Novel Writing Month) next month? I still have to write the second half of the first draft of the novel I got started on with NaNo last year. My grand plan to write the second half of the draft in December did not materialize, alas. And since then, I've mostly been working on rewrites and polishing of the first half - it was very, very rough, and is still kind of rough, but better.
I need some buddies to keep me going!

I'm doing it! If you want to friend me (I think we've been buddies in the past!), I'm drsarah. This will be my fourth time doing it and I'm looking forward to plowing through the beginning of the sequel to The Good Knight. I write drafts, so getting 50,000 words down is a huge relief because it gives me something to edit

Cool! Since I made this post, all my NaNo buddies from last year have appeared on my profile, so it looks like we're already friended up. So glad to hear you're both doing it again.
I like doing drafts and having something to edit, too. My favorite part of writing is the second draft, because I've already done the hard part of getting some structure down, and I can do the fun part of imagining the scene in its full glory with all the setting details and nuances of interactions between the characters, etc.
And 5 years isn't all that long for a project to languish, at least in my experience, which is probably a sad thing to contemplate. Anyway, NaNo is a great help in getting things de-languished!

- Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
- Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
- Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

Much as I'd like to, I've got to finish several edits in response to feedback. The one new piece I'm working on is supposed to be a novella, something at around 20K words, if I can keep it down for a change. I've never had a problem churning out verbiage--my issue is pruning it so that only the best remains.

You're doing very well! I'm struggling a bit, after a busy day on Wednesday when I was not able to squeeze in much writing. But if not for NaNo, I would not be doing nearly so well!Ended days one and two a little bit ahead. So far, so good.

I so admire people who juggle writing and parenting. I don't think I could do it!
