Death Comes to Pemberley
A Facebook friend alerted me to this Jane Austen sequel/murder mystery by mystery writer P. D. James:

I think it looks as if it could be quite a nice read.

Thanks for the information. P.D. James is one of my favorites and Austen another--it will be fascinating to see how P.D. James interprets and reworks Austen.

I love both Jane Austen's novels and P. D. James' books, so I'm psyched about this one! And it's coming out shortly before my birthday--very convenient.

What can I say? I too love Austen and PD James, but while Death Comes to Pemberley is a masterful stylistic achievement and psychological study, oh dear, it's dull, dull, dull!
A noticeable contrast with Anthony Horowitz' Sherlock Holmes spin-off House of Silk which remains true to the Conan Doyle spirit but is an absolute cracker as a mystery.

It seems vaguely sacrilegious to diss the work of such a renowned author, but I see from the Amazon UK reviews that I'm by no means the only reader to feel that style has taken precedence over substance in Death comes to Pemberley. Obviously there will be others who feel that style justifies itself.
