Spartacus: The Gladiator

Post by parthianbow » Fri September 9th, 2011, 3:53 pm

A few of you might have heard of this chap :p

My version of his story (well at least the first half) comes out in the UK on Jan. 19, 2012.

I do hope that some of you read it. FYI, there's a huge part for Spartacus' wife, Ariadne, in it. It's not all battles! :D

PS Disregard the 5 Jan. release date. It's being changed...

PPS US release date yet to be determined. Will post it up asap.

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

I'm buying this for my husband (he'll be in Spartacus heaven since season 3 of the Starz series starts in January as well).

Thanks, everyone!
Feeling a bit flat about it today as Andy Whitfield died yesterday :(

So sorry to hear that. I'm about half-way through the prequel they produced while he was being treated.

Whitfield brought to undeniable LIFE a character who will go on with us. I actually had a hard time watching the one season I've Netflicked, because the violence was so intense for me - but I found his performance and a number of others even more intense. Ben, may your own treatment of the story be as affirming! Congrats, and best of success to you.
