Our power flickered once, and that was about it--we were too far inland to get much more than wind gusts and rain, and we didn't get much rain at all.
A small tree near the community swimming pool broke in the storm. Boswell the dog added insult to injury by whizzing on the tree during his walk this morning.

My cousin in NYC is fine. Nothing happened, not even loss of power.
Another friend is in PA and she is fine. Just a little bit of water.

Everything was pretty much ok until about 2pm -- heavy rain, road turning into a river, but then the power went out -- and stayed out, and we have some water in the basement, nothing dangerous or critical, but certainly a nuisance. Power was out until 2am or so; local town declared a state of emergency, J got home very very late, and our local road is washed out. Otherwise, things are peachy.
My house is fine. Some branches down and some flooding in the backyard. Didn't lose power. However, other people in my town did not fare as well. The river in New Brunswick, the county seat and 8 miles away is 13 feet above flood level and the city is virtually an island. The flooding in New Jersey was much worse inland than by the shore.

This was the photo on Yahoo's main page. It is a main road in New Jersey. The photo was taken in New Brunswick, my county seat, 8 miles away.

Flood waters rose all across New Jersey on Sunday, closing roads from side streets to major highways as Hurricane Irene weakened and moved on, leaving 600,000 homes and businesses without power.
