Took the day off from work today to pack up the house and get some supplies. I'm worried about my parents who live closer to coast here but they can't leave. Hunkering down...

We're going to do our hurricane preparedness today. Predictions say that this will probably be the worst storm ever to hit New Jersey. By the time these storms reach us, they are tropical storms or tropical depressions, but this one will be a hurricane.

Husband took the day off to help with hurricane prep. We're not in a low lying area, but our neighborhood is filled with very tall, very old trees. 100 mph winds and 100 year-old-trees, not a good combination. Off to get last minute supplies. Stay safe everyone!

No it is not. The last whopper wind storm we had up here left a mess of downed trees. Some folks were without power for 2-3 weeks

We're not on the coast but we could get heavy winds. The forecasters are just guessing at this point.

Very concerned about, and praying for, all my friends on the coast. Have one on an island off of NC. A sister in Philly (in an eighth floor corner apartment), and others. Everybody stay safe and let us know how you are as you are able.

We're all thinking about you, East Coasters. Please don't hesitate to leave if they mention it. You are important. Stuff is not.
