One thing that annoys me is that he's allowing children to rule everywhere. Joffrey is a child, Dany is a child, Robb is a child. If this is an adult series - which it has to be with the language he uses alone - then I would like to see adults in control.

And the whole situation with Bran drags on and on ad nauseum. I feel sorry for the kid, but it just feels like Martin took a mental break while writing Bran's POV stuff. In my opinion, he shouldn't be a POV character.

Well, don't forget that in medieval times, children could be married as young as 12, I think. Kids were expected to grow up much faster. While this is a fantasy setting, I think there is a lot of medieval culture incorporated into it. Dany and Robb in particular are teenagers, I think... so it's not like they are young children.

Can anyone tell me, do we ever learn who tried to murder Bran?

Hi Rowan :)
yes you do when the person admits to Catelyn what said person did to her son, Bran. I don't remember though what book it was in. Hope that helps.

Thanks Becca. :)

As of this writing, though, I am getting a bit bored with book 2. I'm not reading them back to back, but methinks I should've read more than just one book in between.

I have to admit, I was surprised at the exchange between Theon and his sister. Of course, in my opinion, he had it coming.

Rowan--"As of this writing, though, I am getting a bit bored with book 2..."

What I tended to do was speed read thru the chapters I did not like especially Dany who bored me. But the books do contain some answers and quite a few revelations are revealed(mostly in books3-4-5)so it is not a good idea to miss reading entire books. I know at times it is tempting do exactly that(some of these books really needed pruning)but as Brenna posted, keep pressing on :D you'll get there. :D

Good luck

Bec :)

It seems Martin's MO is to drag you along by your hair, boring you all the way and then injecting something exciting every now and again.... kinda like dragging you over a rock so it gets your attention. LOL
