Stolen Caligula statue unveiled

Post by annis » Wed July 13th, 2011, 4:43 am

A massive statue of Roman emperor Caligula has been unveiled in Rome

The statue was first discovered back in January when the Italian special art squad police arrested a man near Lake Nemi, south of Rome, as he was trying to load part of an eight-foot-tall statue onto his truck.

It's nice that they got it back.

I still blame him for those ridiculous bangs though.

I think the interesting thing about this statue is that it appears to represents an actual person (one you'd probably prefer not to meet) rather than an idealised image.
