Cover design recognition

Post by fljustice » Sat June 18th, 2011, 6:11 am

I almost feel like I'm spamming because I've had so many nice announcements in the past week: a great review, an interview, a surprise endorsement from New Zealand and now a feature on a blog about the cover design for Selene: "What's great about this cover?" Whoohoo! :D

I'm glad for you and I agree, as a reader, that the cover is simple and lovely. There are so many books I don't notice or don't pick up because the cover is too jumbly. I know it's silly but it's true. If the art on a cover is bad, I assume the story is lame. I know that's wrong but I tend to do it anyway.

That was interesting about the search engine. It's crazy what writers have to think about these days. Or I guess I should say writers/agents/editors/publishers.

Thanks, Greg and Alisha! I very much liked the cover when it was proposed. The blog was analyzing specifically for ebooks, because the images are so small; something the editors/publishers, etc do have to think about these days...not just how will it look on the shelf or in the catalog, but on those tiny screens.
