Supporting historical novels in the classroom

Post by Margaret » Tue June 14th, 2011, 6:45 pm

I just stumbled across this project to buy some historical novels for a 5th grade classroom in a disadvantaged area so the students can enjoy learning about history: http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/prop ... ?id=584694. It's such a small project, I'll bet just our forum members could quickly meet the need by making a bunch of small donations.
Browse over 5000 historical novel listings (probably well over 5000 by now, but I haven't re-counted lately) and over 700 reviews at www.HistoricalNovels.info

Actually, they're looking for monetary donations. The teacher has identified three historical novels she'd like to have on hand for her students. She needs about $500 to buy enough copies so all her students can be reading one at the same time.

http://www.donorschoose.org/ is a site that allows teachers to ask for funds for things they need for their classrooms. The organization buys the things and delivers them to the teachers.

http://www.donorschoose.org/about tells how it works.
