HNS Get Together!

Post by hfwriter » Sat June 11th, 2011, 11:21 pm

Have we planned a get together for all of us here at HFOnline at the HNS conference yet?

If not, let's plan one on this thread.

Also, Onsite or offsite? I'm game for whatever, but if we want to go offsite drinks at Del Coronado sounds fabulous.

I'm up for meeting. I have no idea what is around the hotel since I've never been to SD before.

Friday after the dinner? I shall have to be a good girl because I'm traveling with a chaperone (my teenage daughter).

btw, for anyone who's also on twitter (I am @readingthepast) there will be a Tweet and Greet at 6:15 during the cash bar reception on Friday night. Look for this sign.

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

I don't know anything about San Diego or the hotel. I guess we could meet in the lobby after dinner and figure it out from there, unless someone who knows the area has a suggestion. Or we could hang out in the hotel bar, assuming I can toss down Coca-Colas there with abandon.

Great! Let's do after dinner on Friday night in the hotel lobby (the one we're staying in) so that we don't have to go too far in case we want to meander back in to listen to the Friday Night Fight Scenes...after copious amounts of Diet Coke, of course.

Shall we say 9:00 pm in the hotel lobby sitting area? I don't know the layout of the hotel but if it's anything like the one in Schaumburg we can walk over to the hotel bar for drinks once we find each other in the lobby.

I'll make a sign to hold up or prop up so we can easily spot each other.

Ariadne--I saw the Tweet and Greet, I'll be there! I'm @amandavorr.

Susan--You won't be the only one with a chaperone, I invited my mom! She's going to go to the Water Color Art Society and to check out as many museums as she can while we're there so she won't be joining me for any part of the conference, but I'll be on my best behavior anyway :)
