Spam ebooks are invading the market

Post by fljustice » Mon April 25th, 2011, 5:25 pm

Every heard of Manuel Ortiz Braschi? He's "published" over 3000 books on Kindle including some in the public domain like Alice in Wonderland but most are stolen articles. It seems that with Google going after content farms, the "writers" are moving to the Kindle to pedal their plagiarized wares. Interesting article:

I think I bought one of these, or something similar, a few months ago. It turned out to be just a printed version of a set of Wikipedia articles. I was disappointed, although not horrified, because I don't mind having it in a compact, printed format. But I don't think I'll be buying from that particular "publisher" again.
Browse over 5000 historical novel listings (probably well over 5000 by now, but I haven't re-counted lately) and over 700 reviews at www.HistoricalNovels.info

I have also bought a cheap book from this bloke - he must be one of the most prolific plaigarists in modern times. Very poor material indeed.

Isn't there a way to track him down through whatever payment system he uses? I would think Amazon would be able to put a stop to what he's doing.
