We don't chase down missing members in general; some people simply just get busy, while others have personal reasons for going off-forum for a while and may prefer not to explain them. And some authors, of course, tend to show up when they have a new book out and disappear afterward until the next book appears.

[quote=""Michy""]And Miss Moppett, too. She hasn't posted in quite some time.
Yes, Ken, I'm sure it's all your fault that members are exiting in droves. You know how you are.

Moppet's been very ill. She's just now got active again at Goodreads so I hope she'll pop back here. Libby is right, sometimes it's so busy you only have time to catch up on the threads and not post at all.

At home with a good book and the cat...
...is the only place I want to be

I find with 2 little ones, that the sound of typing is sure to bring them asking for something!!!! It seems I am permitted to browse and read, but the moment there is typing.....look out!
I pop in here multiple times a day to see what chatter is going on, though it wouldn't seem that way if you look at my posts!

Oh dear, poor Moppet
That's the thing about internet fora, isn't it? We all have no real idea about anyone else's lives, and whether they're well or not, having a hard time at work or at home, lost their job or whatever.
This thread was just a passing thought I had, and look how many people have posted on it! Funny.

Very true it also says something about how we all become attached to these virtual people (my DH used to call them my imaginary friends, till he found some himself!) and get concerned enough to ask when they disappear. Depends on the forum of course; this one is focused on HF, but on another book forum Im on, there are more opportunities to get to know each other. I remember when someone suddenly died; the true mourning, and the way we memorilazed him, totally smashed the myth that the internet would destroy human interaction
The one I wonder about is Diamondlil. She's the first one I remember meeting on the old forum, and always seemed to a major player here. She just sort of disappeared, and I never knew why. Hope she's ok.
