Any good April Fool stories?

Post by sweetpotatoboy » Mon April 4th, 2011, 1:11 pm

Just came across this one published by The Bookseller on Friday about British bookshops facing quotas on the number of foreign authors they can stock.

Anyone else seen any good ones?

Its sort of April Fools, but it would make sense any day of the week - at a Borders in Chicago that is closing, sign on a store window: No Public Restrooms. Try Amazon.

My blog stats went sky high on April 1. Wordpress.com uses a bar graph to show views and here was this mountain, which puzzled me to no end. When I hovered my cursor over the bar, it showed a normal number and the message "April Fools." Personally thought it was a bit lame and unprofessional. I wasn't doing any happy dance over my inflated bar, just thought it was a software glitch on their part, until I noticed the message.

One of my cousins posted a fake ultrasound picture on her Facebook profile.

And some very cruel people put out fake articles about Netflix (and others) getting licensing to produce new episodes of Firefly.

One radio station told that there is new law that censors all finnish and english swearing in songs. Like ass, ****, rape.... That there would we be this beep-sound when there is swearing. Gotta tell that Rape Me by Nirvana sounded pretty interesting :D
It was little too early when I heard that and it took longer than I care to admit before I realised what day it was :p
