which first editions would you most like to find?

Post by jonburchell1970 » Fri April 1st, 2011, 1:20 pm

My lucky find of a Grace Ingram first edition has got me wondering, which first editions would people on here most like to find a copy of, or are there any that you actually have which are your prized possessions?? Has anyone ever found anything they really wanted at a garage sale or charity shop for example?

Any thoughts?

A first edition signed copy of Lillian Gish's bio "Lillian Gish: Mr Griffith, Movies and Me", at a used bookstore in lovely shape at a decent price.

The book I'd love to find is a first edition of T H White Once and Future King.

My most precious book is a first, signed edition of 'The Spanish Bridegroom' by Jean Plaidy, in gorgeous condition, purchased off Ebay for a reasonable amount a couple of years ago :) I like to take it off the shelf and hold it from time to time!

I have a couple of first bound editions of Dickens's novels, but I would love to own a set of the original monthly installments. They're around, but the last time I looked, they're pricey!

Anything by Austen, Gaskell, or Heyer. In addition to myriad others.

I'd love to have a first edition of A Christmas Carol. I haven't ever found anything like that in boot sales or second hand book shops. There are so many books I love, I think I'd like to have a library of first editions - but then again I am greedy!! lol
